The UV-Vis spectroscopy is a technique that complements the structural elucidation of molecules.
A sample in solution is irradiated in UV visible range (wavelengths between 200 and 800 nm).
At certain wavelengths, energy changes are produced in molecules that when returning to a resting state emit energy that is detected by the spectrophotometer allowing to identify functional group of the compound.
The IR spectroscopy is another very useful analytical tool for compounds characterization. When the sample is irradiated at wavelengths between 2.5 and 50 ¥ìm (4000 to 200 cm-1) energy absorption is generated from molecules producing some characteristic bands in the spectrum.
The infrared spectrum of a compound provides the functional group characterization and a single track between 500 and 1600 cm-1. These ¡°fingerprints¡± are used to establish the identity or no identity of a compound.

Reagents
The range of solvents ¡°for UV, IR¡± has been specially designed to be used in the up-to-date instrumental analysis techniques where a high transparency in UV is required.
Our products are subjected to an accurate control in our analysis laboratories. This quality control includes UV and IR spectrums. We also guarantee a high level of purity (most of solvents are 99,9%) as well as a residual evaporation and water content very low.
We offer more than 100 solvents with a rigorous control of the IR and of the UV to confirm the aptitude for IR Spectroscopy and a high transmittance.

UV/VIS Spectrophotometry Standards
UV/VIS spectrophotometers must be checked periodically to ensure their correct functioning, thereby guaranteeing the reliability of their results.
The European Pharmacopoeia recommends certain solutions for the control of UV/VIS equipment that can be used to detect possible deviations arising from electrical, mechanical or optical problems.

The parameters to be checked in UV/VIS spectroscopy according to the European Pharmacopoeia are: Absorbance, Accuracy of the wavelength, Stray light limit and Spectral resolution PanReac AppliChem supplies 4 liquid standards that allow these parameters to be verified with the following advantages:
Compliance with the European Pharmacopoeia.
Packaged in ready-to-use, disposable ampoules.
Certificate of analysis with each pack.
Three-year expiry date.
