NMR tubes and accessories

NMR tubes - Made in Germany
As German manufacturer of NMR tubes and NMR expendable items, like for example pipettes and filling needles,
the Hilgenberg GmbH stands in close contact with the development departments of the large European NMR
equipment manufacturers.

We are up to new requirements, like the production of the 100 mm NMR tubes for the Bruker Match¢â system.
We reliably offer high-quality and inexpensive tubes.

As to new developments, like the filling needles for the Bruker Match¢âsystem, we research in our in-house
development department and optimise / collaborate with external research and application experts.
Standard NMR tubes made of Borosilicate glass 3.3
... made of high-quality borosilicate glass 3.3 with a fire-polished rim and a lens-shaped bottom.
The standard tolerances fulfil general value ranges.

Borosilicate glass 3.3 allows glass blower work on these tubes with standard laboratory glass.

We shrink-wrap the tubes minimum 50 pieces. Larger packing units are possible.
NMR tubes for the Bruker Match¢â system
In collaboration with Bruker designed and developed, we are now offering these high-precision 100 mm
standard NMR tubes complementary to the Bruker Match¢âsystem.

The tubes are available in several sizes and tight tolerances. The dimensional range includes 1 - 5 mm tubes.

To manufacture these tubes, we exclusively use high-quality borosilicate glass 3.3.
Filling needles and syringes for the Bruker Match¢â system
To fill our very small NMR tubes for the Bruker Match¢â system, we invented two kinds of filling needles.
Both needles even simplify the filling of our1 mm tubes.

One needle is based on a glass needle to be used with a commercial one-waysyringe. As rounding off,
we offer a small one-way syringe with a volume of only 0,5 ml. The other needle is a glass needle
with a syringe plunger integrated.

Both needles are made of high-quality borosilicate glass 3.3, just as our NMR tubes.

 Pasteur pipettes made of glass
... the high-quality alternative to plastic pipettes. Pipettes made of glass are manufactured of a biocompatible material;
they are resistant against most solvents, detergents, acids and bases.

We are a over 30-year old company and ever since we produce our pipettes at our domestic location in Germany.

Our long experiences allow us to offer a high-quality product that leaves nothing to be desired.
Beside the standard pipette, we may have the solution cut to your special requirements.

In the following a small selection of possibilities
The raw material
For the production of our pipettes we use high-quality transparent glass. A part from our standard glass sort, soda lime glass, which we use for most pipettes, we alternatively process borosilicate glass.

For applications, which are dependent on gamma sterilization, we have a special soda lime glass on offer. While conventional glass discolours by gamma ray exposure, our special glass remains transparency.
The packing
Our standard pipettes are packed in cardboards, whose interior can befold-out, in order to take the pipettes out more easily.
The bottom of the cardboard is flattened on both sides to ensure the greatest possible cleanliness of our products.

A cardboard box contains 250 pipettes. We offer 4 of these cardboard boxes in a packing unit boxed in a stable outer package.
With or without cotton wool plugs?
No matter how you use our pipettes, we supply you a suitable variant. All pipettes are optionally available with a filter plug made of
cotton wool, which offers additional security while pipetting.
The tip of the pipette ...
opened or closed? You have the choice. The tips are standardized opened. However, we also offer pipettes with
closed tips to protect them against contamination.

The tip would have to be opened by the user briefly before the use. In addition, we offer special ceramic blades.
Accessories
In order to round our products off, we also offer suitable pipette droppers. Our small rubber sucker allows an easy pipetting
of smaller quantities without any difficulty.

There are 2 materials available ...

rubber or the clearly steadier silicone.
 Dripping pipettes made of glass
Our dripping pipettes are characterised by very short tips and a relatively large volume.
The formed drops at the tip can drip off with the help of a pipette dropper made of rubber or silicone.

The tips can be differently designed to allow different drop sizes. Also, the rim can be differently formed,
straight or with a flanged rim for a safe seat of the pipette dropper or a hose system.

Different sizes and variants of our dripping pipettes are available.
 Special pipettes made of glass

In case you need special pipettes for any of your applications, we will find the best possible solution for you.
We produce special pipettes in diverse variants by request. Nothing is impossible!

In the following a small selection of possibilities
materials
¤ý soda lime glass & gammasterilizable soda lime glass
¤ý borosilicate glass 3.3 & neutral glass
¤ý quartz glass ( fused silica )
processing
¤ý pulling of long and short tips
¤ý constricting the pipette as a flow throttle
¤ý flanging up the rims to fit into guard rings
¤ý bending the tips from 0 to 90 ¡Æ
¤ý closing the tips for dust protection

 Mini pipettes made of glass
¡¦ are settled in their sizes between normal Pasteur pipettes and micropipettes. For many applications,
the Pasteur pipette is too large and/or too inaccurate in the dosage, while the micropipette is too small and too filigree.

As solution, we developed the mini pipette. Design and dimensions of the mini pipettes can be adapted to
your setting of tasks. A typical application area is the IVF - In Vitro Fertilization. Fine and exact capillary tips are essential.
Typical dimensions for mini pipettes
¤ý total lengths 50 - 100 mm
¤ý lengths of the tips 20 - 50 mm
¤ý shank diameters 1.5 - 4 mm
¤ý inner diameters of the tips approx. 50 - 500 ¥ìm
Optional, the tips can be supplied with closed ends to protect them during shipping or storage against contamination.
For our mini pipettes, we also offer optionally small rubber sucker.
 Micro pipettes
Micro pipettes are mainly used in medical engineering and research. With their small tips - they maybe smaller than
one micrometer - you can aspirate cells, inject substances or observe and influence electrochemical processes
inside a cell using a reference solution. Micro pipettes are a key module of modern research and
are available in many types and kinds.

The raw material

Micropipettes are produced by heating and extending on so-called pullers. This way,
different kinds of tips can be produced, and the tips can be adapted to the respective application.

Specialities

Further processing steps are possible. The tips of the micropipettes can be grinded plane or pointed like a needle.
With an additional gold-plating, the tip will appear high-contrast in the light optical microscope. On request,
a Luer connection can be fixed to the end of the micropipette.
 Flow limited micro pipettes
This special type of a micro pipette was designed for a fine dispensing application.
The additional constriction placed above the tip of the micro pipette fulfil the function for a flow restrictor,
which allows to reduce the pressure and flow inside the capillary and on the tip.

The other needle is a glass needle with
 a syringe plunger integrated.

Both needles are made of high-quality borosilicate glass 3.3, just as our NMR tubes.
 Glass needles
Analogous to the production of common steel needles like those used for medical purposes,
we produce special needles with a glass cannula instead of a metal cannula. These glass capillaries have
clear advantages over metal cannulas regarding numerous purposes.
These are the advantages of glass needles
¤ý absolutely smooth surface inside as well as outside
¤ý high flexibility of cannulas smaller than 500 ¥ìm
¤ý diameter of less than 200 ¥ìm is possible, down to a diameter of 70 ¥ìm
¤ý inert material, chemically resistant even with high temperatures
¤ý transparent, to give a clear view inside the cannula for observation
¤ý very precise measurements, inside as well as outside
¤ý integration of glass reservoirs in the needle is possible
¤ý most different combinations, tasks and customer specific designs can be realized
Disadvantages compared to metal
¤ý the material is mechanically less robust than metal
 Variants
Standard
¤ý the capillary is fitted directly into the connection
¤ý in order to enhance its stability, the capillary is coated; at the end, however, the very fine capillary will be showing off the cladding tube
¤ý capillary can additionally be bended
